About the Curator, Antonio Pelayo:
Inker, painter and Head of Special Effects for the Ink and Paint Animation Department for Walt Disney, Antonio Pelayo is a product of two cultures, both influentially and emotionally, the land of myth and legend, Mexico where he was raised for several years and America, The country he was born in, let and had returned to with an outsiders view on the world. At the age of three he picked up a pencil and brought it to paper and a new universe was created for him to escape into. Totally self-taught as an artist, Antonio feels the strongest connection to his art when he does a portrait.
As a Curator, Antonio Pelayo is inspired by helping artists take off in their art careers and creates exhibition opportunities for artists to display and sell their artwork. El Velorio was started by Antonio Pelayo, four years back, for an opportunity to help artist and to give back to the communities art programs to enrich young artists.
