Las Dos Hermanas Preciosas by Salvador Rojas

After traveling through a dirt road for about two hours we arrived at a small village hidden in Guerrero, Mexico. The village lacked running water and electricity, yet the people manage without the basic utilities. I walked around the village and took some photos while my friend Renzo and our driver Charlie befriended the locals. We met two little sisters while visiting different families throughout the village, the precious sisters were named Stephanie and Jenny. The two girls lead us to their home. Once there I began to play with the sisters and posing them and taking their pictures. As I was keeping the little girls entertained; Renzo was interviewing their mother about their family lifestyle and how they make it with the little resources that they have. I would show them their photos on the LCD screen on my camera; the girls would laugh and giggle yelling out Otra, Otra! I was afraid I was interfering with Renzos interview from all the noise and fun the girls and I were having, but I continued playing along with them and they loved it. After a while I sat down next to the girls and they started to ask me a question. But, because their Spanish is different, I had a hard time understanding what they were trying to ask me. Finally our driver said They are asking you if you have any daughters of your own? I smiled at the girls when he translated their question to a Spanish I could comprehend. I told them in Spanish that I was Soltero y sin hijas and they both responded with bright eyes and warm smiles. I stood as long as I could while my friends were waiting by the car. It was time to go and both little Jenny and Stephanie walked me out to the edge of their property and we said our good-byes.
