Live on Stage! NOCERA | Friday May 8th, 2009 Norwalk, CA

Soon after Hip-Hop music was born in the Bronx during the 70's the Latino community would soon develop their own twist to the break-dancing phenomenon. Taking the ideas and production style of the then fast tempo Hip-Hop beats of such songs like Afrika Bambaataas masterpiece "Planet Rock" among many others. Many Latino kids from the New York City area were either Puerto Rican or Dominican and grew up listening to Salsa, Merengue and Mambo at home and would even eventually combine Latin melodies and rhythms to this new wave of Hip Hop break-dancing and its music giving birth to Latin Hip-Hop or Freestyle as it's called today.

Still to this day Freestyle artists pack clubs and tour dates performing across the world and although Freestyle is now living deep in the underground of the Latino community, t music and movement still has a strong presence.

In 1986 Nocera hit the streets and with the smash Freestyle hit single "Summertime, Summertime" which was included in Nocera's 1987 debut album which reached #2 on the billboard's hot dance charts in 1986. The album also featured "Let's Go," a track remixed by Little Louie Vegas which reached #8 on the Hot Dance/Club Play chart in 1987.
