THE RED ZONE 103.1 FM KPFT : Los Angeles, CA
The Red Zone is the first English-voiced, specialty radio show highlighting what has been dubbed by the industry as "Latin Alternative", or Latino influenced, alternative based rock, hip-hop, rap, reggae, ska, and electronic music to be aired on a commercial English Language Station. Recognizing that there is little commercial or public airplay for this music (on either Spanish or English radio), The Red Zone caters to the vast potential listening audience that wants to hear this cool, new music, reflecting a bilingual culture.

The Red Zone is a two hour show airing Tuesday nights from 10pm-Midnight, on Los Angeles hottest new station Indie 103.1. The show was created and developed by Chelina Vargas, in collaboration with Tomas Cookman of Cookman International. The show features music and live interviews from the hottest Latin alternative artists spanning the globe. The program first aired in 2000 on the now-defunct Y-107, and joined forces in July 2004 with the progressive-minded Indie 103.1.

The Red Zone is music driven and also includes interviews with such leading artists as Ozomatli, Molotov, Kinky, Nortec Collective, Aterciopelados, Caf Tacuba, Julieta Venegas, Delinquent Habits, and Ely Guerra.

The show, soon to be airing in other markets, can currently be heard live online at www.indie1031.fm
