Latin Rocks foundation was laid by great artists
like Carlos Santana, Richie Valens, Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead), with
pioneer bands like East Los
Angeles own Los Lobos, Tierra, El Chicano, and Malo. Now Latin Rock is
coming from both sides of the border. In Latin America Latin Rock a.k.a.
Rock en Espanol is blowing up with groups from Mexico like Jaguares, Mana,
and Caifanes to name a few. America is also producing some of the best
Latin Rock bands in the world, with groups like Voodoo Glow Skulls and
Rage Against The Machine paving the road with upcoming Latin bands.
Independent record labels like California's Aztlan Records and New York's
Grita Records, have devoted themselves to signing the best Latin Rock
Bands. Latin Rock bands are making their sound heard in every form of rock
music. With bands like Orange County's Manic Hispanic and East Los
Angeles's Union 13 representing Latins in the hardcore punk scene. With
groups like New York's King Chango and Riverside's Voodoo Glow Skulls
playing a Latin version of punk. With Voodoo Glow Skulls representing for
the Chicanos with their hardcore album Firme, which was released both in
English and Spanish versions. This is an exciting time for Latin bands.
Even without radio support and big label deals, Latin bands are making a
name for themselves through their musical talent!
